** UPDATE- LAFK is expanding!💪 That's right, we're packing up the building and moving. Don't worry, we're still honoring and accepting new bookings for Live Events, but we do need to temporarily halt guided tours, and new student sign ups. In the mean time stay in touch and follow our journey on Instagram at: lafilmkitchen Thanks.

1-2 month courses are Los Angeles Film Kitchen's core of basic and advanced classes in television and film production. These intensive programs are designed to give you the most amount of hands-on training possible. Each course is made up of 16-32 individual sessions, which take place over four-eight weeks. Currently each class consists of 4-6 students.
Each student gets to train on their own 4k camera and computer starting the first day! Our curriculum is designed to build skills one session at a time, leading to a greater mastery and understanding of the techniques and purpose of that course.

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. Don't be afraid or intimidated by technology. Our first class had students with ages ranging between 18 and 63. All you need is basic computer skills and the ability to communicate effectively in the English language.

Shortcut workshops will represent the LA Film Kitchen's ongoing commitment to our students and the community. These short-term programs will range between 1 day, 1 weekend, or week-long classes. Some programs will be FREE. These are designed to keep you updated with the latest information and networking opportunities. Many workshops will consist of mentored practice sessions in photography, videography, screenwriting, and journalism. Others will concentrate on a specific topic in technology and production. These sessions will change from month-to-month as opportunities present themselves. Graduates of our program will be supported for at least 3 years.

** On-site training maybe available if you're booking 5-10 students & located near our office.**
Take advantage of learning and practicing in the actual space you'll be shooting in!

Please make an appointment. After making sure we're the right fit you'll be able to pay for your class/classes. (Tours of our facility are available by appointment only to minimize disrupting classes).

About Us

OurValues

We Foster Education

Mission Statement: “To train, build, prepare, and support the underrepresented through film and media training.” Since 2020 the Los Angeles Film Kitchen has created a unique hands on learning environment. We offer a wide selection of film and television production classes designed for small groups. Class sizes are kept between 4 and 6 students per course. Cameras and other equipment are available at a ratio of 1:1, and every student has access to their own computer. Separate equipment is maintained to support students beyond the classroom.

Our History

The Los Angeles Film Kitchen is an extension of our initial Non-Profit training program called The Media Aid Center. This program trained youth and adults in media arts & provided various services often at no cost. Since 1996 over 3,000 students have passed through our organizations. Even though we felt successful in our efforts our graduating children often expressed their desire to continue training as adults. That's when the LAFK was born!

We Pursue Excellence

LAFK invites experienced instructors from every aspect of film and television production to collaborate with our students for 1-2 month intensive experience-based instruction. Our instructors show you the rules of the trade then how to successfully break them.

Who are these programs for?

The programs at the Los Angeles Film Kitchen are designed to meet the needs of the creator, the explorer, & the person who wants to dive right in and get started. We ask that you are passionate, at least 18 years old, have basic computer skills, and can communicate in the English language. It's never too early or late to chart a new path in life. Our 1st class had age ranges from 18-63.

Networking opportunities

The Kitchen alumni will be invited to become a part of our community. You'll have the opportunity to attend workshops and network regularly. We want our alumni to feel supported in the growth of their careers and the progress of their projects. Helping foster the collaboration between talent, crew, and other resources, the Kitchen will nurture the skills and opportunities you need to grow.

Let's Work together

It's ideal that our students become teammates and form production teams inside and outside of class. Besides events, we have set up a private messaging channel for students who would like to collaborate.
